Valentine's Book

I created this book for one of my guided reading groups.  Hope you can use it.

Valentine's Math

Ok... I'll have to be honest tonight is just not my night.  I worked on these 2 math centers yesterday and some today but when I went to think of a name for them - I lost all of my creativity.  So if you can think of a good name for them please share.

Friday Is Such a Hectic Day... for me at least

I don't know about you all but it seems there is always so much to do on Friday and the day just flies by making it that much harder to get everything in.  We always assess the standards that have been taught that week on Friday and I try to get them all graded and ready to send home but it just didn't happen today.  Today we had our first Brown Bag Book Club.  I wish I could say this was my idea but I got it from Cara Carroll at The First Grade Parade.  You have just got to go check it out!  My kids absolutely loved it and were asking if we could do it again Monday!  We won't be doing it again Monday but I have decided to MAKE time to have the book club every Friday.  I just love to hear my kids talk about books and it was wonderful.  I just wanted to take a seat and listen to the chatter... the book talk going on around me.  If you haven't tried this in your class you just have to.  You and your kids will love it.  Below are a couple of pictures I took today.

I am so excited about this center activity especially to have it posted tonight.  I have been working on it for 4 days because my 8 month old thinks she needs ALL of the attention!  So here it is... Hope you enjoy!

I absolutely love Debbie Diller's Literacy Work Stations...I still go back to it to get new ideas for my literacy stations. I am so excited that she has now a Math Work Stations book...especially since math work stations are in full swing in my class and I am always looking for new ideas.  You can now preview the entire book on Stenhouse Publisher's website...here. I can't wait to read the book in it's entirety. I'm sure it's going to be fabulous!!

Christmas Math Activity

This is the cutest activity ever and the kids LOVE it.  They first design their tree on paper by deciding what they are going to use to decorate their tree.  The 'tree' is a sugar ice cream cone and the
'decorations' are green icing, sprinkles, green sugar, red sugar and M&M's.  Each item has a cost and they have to determine how much their tree is worth.  After the design process students then "purchase" their supplies and begin decorating.  Once the tree is all decorated... it's time to eat!
